Rav was born in Paterson, New Jersey and raised in St. Stephen, South Carolina. Through his younger years and into his adult years, music has always been in his heart which is often noticed by listeners who comment that every note and chord played is filled with emotion. Rav started to take an interest in music at a very early age. While attending his father's church; he began playing the drums, organ, and the piano. He also became involved in singing, eventually directing the church's gospel choir. As his life progressed, he started to focus more on the acoustic piano and keyboard teaching himself everything he could learn. Along with gospel music influences around him, Rav began to study jazz, which became his personal favorite music genre. He also enjoys studying other genres such as R&B, Contemporary Jazz, and Classical Music. Rav continues to play at every opportunity both for business and as a relaxing hobby. He has had the fortunate opportunity to play for the NAACP, as well as for professional artists, like the late Grammy-nominated gospel singer Reverend Timothy Wright. In addition, Rav has played at many venues, including church services of different denominations, dinner cruises, wedding ceremonies and funerals. Finally, Rav always enjoys the opportunity to collaborate with other local musicians and is grateful to be a part of the Lowcountry Pianist & Company team. |
