Josh is a percussionist and educator based out of Charleston, SC. Josh is the Director of Percussion at Goose Creek High School and Berkeley Center for the Arts in Goose Creek, SC. Josh is also an adjunct instructor of percussion at Charleston Southern University. Previously, he directed the percussion programs at Ashley Ridge High School in Summerville, SC and Western Heights Public Schools in Oklahoma City, OK. He has also served as a percussion technician/consultant with schools throughout the Oklahoma City and Charleston areas. Many of his students have been all-state or region band percussionists, received superiors at state solo and ensemble fesitivals, and have been state marching band finalists. Josh is an active performer throughout South Carolina. He regularly performs with the Charleston Wind Symphony, Summerville Orchestra, and as a drummer on the praise team at Peace Presbyterian Church in Goose Creek, SC. He has performed with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, Beaufort Symphony Orchestra, Aiken Symphony Orchestra, Florence Symphony Orchestra, the Long Bay Symphony Orchestra, Charleston Stage Company, and several times at the Piccolo Spoleto Fesval. Nationally, he has performed at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, DC as principal percussionist of the 2015 National Christian Honor Band and at the National Conference on Percussion Pedagogy. Addionally, Josh was a member of the 2010 WGI PIO Champion, Palmetto Percussion. |
Josh earned a Master of Music Degree in Percussion Performance from the University of Oklahoma, where he held a Graduate Teaching Assistantship for 2 years. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance from Charleston Southern University, graduating cum laude. His former teachers include Dr. Lance Drege, Dr. Michael Haldeman, Dr. Andrew Richardson, and Mike Greer. Josh currently resides in Goose Creek with his wife, Emily, and their furry children.
