After leaving the city of Charleston, which provided so many opportunities to study and play both classical music and other genres of music, Ellie attended the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. During her four years there, she earned a bachelors of violin performance under Kevin Lawrence, played in orchestra and opera orchestras, and studied chamber music, while taking all standard academic and music classes.
After graduation, she went to University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and studied violin performance under Sally O'Reilly. Additionally, Ellie also became certified in the Suzuki Program under Mark Bjork. After graduating and moving back to Charleston, she started a private teaching studio. Currently, Ellie teaches in multiple locations throughout the Lowcountry including with SC Music Lessons LLC. Ellie holds a tenured position in the South Carolina Philharmonic in Columbia and also plays with the Long Bay Symphony in Myrtle Beach. Additionally, she enjoys playing a variety of styles of music with local bands including bluegrass, rock and roll, country, Irish and Americana music. |
