William grew up immersed in music as the grandson of a former band director. His grandfather was dedicated to fostering a profound love of music in him. After being inspired by hearing his first violin concerto, William chose the violin as his instrument. He began playing at six years old, having already started piano lessons the previous year.
During middle and high school, William actively participated in school orchestras, often serving as a section leader. He was a member of the South Carolina All State Orchestra each year from eighth to twelfth grade. Additionally, he played with the Charleston Symphony Youth Orchestra for five years, performing multiple times with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra and at the Piccolo Spoleto festival in Charleston. By his senior year, William achieved the role of concertmaster for the Charleston Symphony Orchestra. Currently, William is studying violin under Dr. William Terwilliger at the University of South Carolina. He is part of the first violin section in both the University of South Carolina Symphony Orchestra and the Florence Symphony Orchestra. Alongside his music studies, William is pursuing a degree in Biology and aims for a career in medicine. |
